Trip to Awana Kijal Terengganu ~ part 2

I was overwhelmed with the welcome cold towel and drink from the Awana Kijal staff, as the journey to reach the destination was hot and dry. No wonder the schedule  express bus I took from hometown to Terengganu and vice versa, was put at night time. I guess it was to reduce the anxiety to reach the destination by leaving the passenger to sleep through the night...

It had been years I had not visited Terengganu and I never been to Awana Kijal before. Awana Kijal  Resort situated near to Kemaman, Kerteh and Cherating. The activities given were all around driving destination and traffic-jam free

The given sea-view room was amasing, fully equipped and most importantly comfortable for the occupants.

One may found he/herself looking wild at the private beach just behind the resort and indulged into relaxation listening to the rhythm of the ocean waves.

Since it was near dinner time when we arrived, and it was eye-catching everywhere, I just snapped some beach view and head on to dinner.

The dinner was serve as buffet dinner at Restoran Kampong. I did manage to try on some tasty food such as the locally made prickle - the umbra prickle was awesome, grilled salmon and tempura were great!

The fun and adventure activity schedule on the first night was fire-flies trip at Sungai Yah Yah. I could not capture any photos to show - forgive my unprofessional in using my Lumix DZ7. How I wish I manage to keep a piece of the memory of viewing fire-flies, and it was not in photos but will be kept in my memory for lifetime. The fire-flies guide Mr Ghani told us that fire-flies seasons is from April until July and the most spectacular scene of fire-flies can be expected in June. Mr Ghani also advices that one should not apply insect repellent when joining trip to fire-flies, and join the tour during no moon seasons to enjoy the full darkness of the night along the river with the stars brightly shining above...

It was late, and courtesy of bring us to view the "city of light" in Terengganu, the tour bus drove up towards north and arrived at Kerteh, where all the plants by Petronas are situated and the night view was extraordinary lively with the lights all over the plants. I was not surprised, I had been seeing this ever since I was studying my undergraduate at Terengganu, and this was the only view at night when the bus reached Kerteh and fast moving towards Dungun after Kerteh.

Tired after a whole day journey and travelling, I opted for a hot shower and landed straight to bed until the next morning.....

Trip to Awana Kijal Terengganu ~ part 1

Trip to Awana Kijal Terengganu was fun and exciting. It was an awesome trip with a change of my perception towards Awana Kijal Terengganu and indulge into the available cuisine with entertainments from the nearby town and village~

The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Awana Kijal Terengganu by bus taken about 4-5 hours depending to the speed and on the road condition. On the journey towards Awana Kijal Terengganu, we dropped by at this seafood restaurant named Pak Su and had our lunch there.

Fried squids, steam grouper, garlic fried sawi flowers, thai sauce tofu, lala fried meehoon, fried rice, and kam heong crabs. The grouper served was a little overcooked and disappointed with it because I had tasted the same dish from the same restaurant and it was way better than this. During the journey at East coast, I believed everyone was anticipating to reach Awana Kijal for the getaway....

Stay tune for more...

Satay Celup

Satay Celup!!!!!!

A version of lok-lok, but not with boiling clear soup or tom yum soup.

It's to lok-lok with the boiling secret ingredients' satay sauce.

The bun or mantau... I can't recall the exact name. It taste normal to me, even with the sauce. Maybe I am not a fan of this bun.

The freshly prepared veges, seafood, tofu pok, fu pei, cockles, pig small intestines and etc with the lidi sticks. The combination of fresh foods with the satay sauce was great and totally awesome!!! Satay celup is definitely worth queuing for almost 2 hours during peak season (public holiday). You may find yourself gave up on queuing and opt for others if you did not walk in with a prepared stomach. Some might be lucky that they need not to queue for long as the crowd subside... It's all depending to your time and luck~

Capitol Satay is the shop that almost every food bloggers had mentioned that their "satay celup" is a must to have~

Take a good look at the variety available =)

The pot of original satay celup sauce without the addition of secret ingredients~

The lady boss mixed in some secret ingredient and blend it well before boiling for a greater taste of satay sauce!!!

I must praise the boss for the appreciation towards the customers by giving out some "good loots" such as super size prawns, sliced abalone, and etc. Last but not least, a glass of alcohol mixture with some kind of milk or syrup was given to the customer as the token of appreciation which indeed satisfying after a meal of foods with satay sauce ~

Penang Trip 2

I had forgotten to include the second session of the Penang Trip photos...

Cendol at Penang Road....

The taste still as superb as the one I tasted before about 8 years ago....

The Laksa sold nearby the cendol stall was just so-so...the impression not deep, and lack of laksa taste. Friends whom are Penangite told us to go for laksa at Kek Lok Si...but the place hygiene is out of control and might be kind of disgusting for first timer... I am not too sure... haven't got the chance to visit there.

Later at evening, (after we had trapped in the jam around Komtar for around 1 hour, moving only around 500m) we decided to deliver items to YQ's popo...near Perak Lane...

Soon after delivered the items, we played awhile with YQ's popo's doggies... and they are so obedience and adorable....

YQ brought us to a nearby hawker stall to have crab porridge....However, the boss informed us that crab had been sold out, only fish.... So, I ordered fish porridge.

The fish porridge served. It's more like cooked rice with a base of soup stirred with the rice and cooked fish meat.

There's a stall selling something called 'Peanut Soup'...and I would wondering how do this peanut soup looks like, and taste like... The peanut soup looks whitish and I thought it tasted like the canto version peanut soup...but it was totally different! The peanut soup sold at here was sweet, and the folks here usually take 'yau char kui' together with the soup. Tasted fine...even though I still prefer the canto version of peanut soup... :P

Wanted to got for a different and thought of to try out the Clinic Cafe at Sunway near Bukit Mertajam... Unfortunately, it's not our day... the clinic cafe wasn't open.

The lok-lok we had taken to share... the good thing regarding to this lok-lok was there are variety types of sauce to choose. Nice!

The lai chee kang that we ordered during eating at a hawker stall at Bukit Mertajam.

We head on to Indian style apom before we head back to YQ's home.

An indian uncle selling this apom. Tasted different with the apom that I usually eat. This had heavier santan (coconut milk) taste and thicker in the middle.
